Before taking this course, I had a bad habit of putting things on delay because of various distractions. I was accompanied by procrastination and my passion and interest graphs to do the specific task has a declining slope. My condition for procrastination is depicted by the figure mentioned below;

As the time of deadline comes nearer, I feel a bit in a hurry and panic and this reduces the quality of my work. But thanks to this course, It helped to overcome this problem. I found the Pomodoro technique to be very effective to overcome procrastination.

I will share an experience where I applied the Pomodoro technique. I was assigned to compile my project work. I started working on that two days before the deadline. I opened canva.com for designing and have the plan to at least do 30% of the project work in one to two hours. So, I broke tasks into sub-tasks and I placed a Pomodoro timer to complete two sub-tasks (cover page design & template finalization). I started with full passion while designing the cover page. Then there came a distraction of messages from the AMAL Fellows WhatsApp group. I read the messages and came back to my work again. I tried to keep myself on track while distractions came and went off. In this way, I was able to complete my two subtasks.

The lesson I learned from this technique is that;

“Consistency is the key to success”

This activity seemed difficult for me but the Pomodorro technique helped me to overcome this. This activity helped me to complete my task 5 minutes before the timer.

Next, I will implement this technique while I am working on my assignments, Project Works. This bonus thing I will do to improve my experience is that I will turn off the Wifi connection of my Mobile phone to avoid any distractions.

I would like to mention a few things that I have learned from this experience are;

Time Management

Consistency

Decision Making

Prioritization of tasks

Meeting deadlines, etc
